Jed's Message at XRPTalk

Postby lucky331 » Thu May 22, 2014 5:55 am

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA512

Hi Everyone,
I started working on ripple in the summer of 2011. I soon hired Arthur and David to help me. In 2012, I met Chris Larsen. He joined us about 5 months before ripple was launched. Chris, Arthur and I kept 20 billion XRP, of which 9 billion were mine. We gave the remaining 80 billion to OpenCoin.
I have given away and donated some of my 9 billion XRP to charities such as MIRI, Literacy Bridge, Give Directly, Mission Bit and others. I plan to start selling all of my remaining XRP beginning in two weeks. Because I have immense respect for the community members and want to be transparent, I’m publicly announcing this before I start. So just fyi…. xrp sales incoming.
Thanks,
Jed.

This message from "jed" sounds extremely fake. Why would jed take the time to link some example of organisations he made donations ? It's some details to fake this is real.

This message is 100% fake, spreading FUD to get cheap XRP before the rally incoming. Period.

from hurukan:

The user comes from a local ISP in San Francisco.

The email used to register on the forum is the one of Jed (used for all his domains).
And he has validated it. So it's the real Jed McCaleb.

The profile picture at https://keybase.io/jed is the photo of the Satoshi Nakamoto "found" by Newsweek. LOLWUT?

Has this key been used to sign any other public messages from Jed, which we can verify?

Has this key been signed by any keys from other known persons, allowing the web of trust to be established?

I confirm he has validated his email on the forum.
And that's an email he used for technical contact on well-known websites.

I assume it's the real Jed McCaleb.

(at the beginning I thought it was a fake, but it's not)

When a lot of money is on the line, people find ways to break into places like bitcointalk and various bitcoin exchanges. The market manipulation possibilities of this event make it worth someone's time to break into a simple email account.

Because of that, I don't buy the validated email argument. A pgp signature from an established Jed key would make me happy, but I have not seen that this key has history.

That's correct he could have been hacked.

But honestly I don't think so. His IP address comes from a local ISP at San Fransisco.
And he does not seem to use a proxy/VPN.

My 2 cents :)
