Crowd funding platform...

on top of ripple protocol? Say, whoever want to collect funds for development of ripple service, issues IOU in exchange of whatever money they need, and after the product is released, redeem their IOU in exchange of discount for their service. Is it possible?

We already have kickstarter and Indiegogo. How would basing something like that on the Ripple protocol help anyone?

We have also PayPal and Visa, but some people still think that basing something like that on the Ripple protocol would help merchants.

I think, one attractive feature of Ripple is transparency which distributed ledger gives.

Edit: And also, if I don't have a credit card, can I make pledge with bitcoins on kickstarter?

Kickstarter and Indiegogo charge fees for listing. Ripple does not.

M of N ?

I think this could help get other Ripple projects off the ground, assuming the community wants to see the project get funded.

I was actually thinking about putting one up, after I ran into some issues with Kickstarter. I'll put a crowdfunding site up, if someone wants to help integrate Ripple, and the security and storage of blockchain coins. "Hot/cold wallets", etc. Whatever ever else we may need on the backend.

I don't know about you but "we" don't own or control either of those companies. A decentralized crowdfunding application in Ripple is an awesome and essential idea.

How would you make it decentralized?

I am working on doing a Crowd + Ripple service for the purpose of covering deductibles and small losses not covered by insurance policies (Home/Auto) so we collect photographic evidence before/after/repaired.

CrowdTilt Open is a good open source starting point. A friend of mine is meeting with CrowdTilt this week, and I have been corresponding with one of their VPs. They are making a big splash in the Crowd industry.

Check out...

If anyone wants to help on the technical side please send PM. I am going to run a crowdfunding campaign at some point (hopefully in the next few months) to raise some money for the project.
